The immunological incompatibility between the mother-to-be and the platelets of her unborn child (the foetus) is called "foetal alloimmune thrombocytopenia" (FAIT) and that between a mother and her newly-born child (neonate) is called "neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia" (NAIT). read on
